Head-to-head fantasy football without the 12-week grind

Fantasy football is a 12-week commitment. You join a league in August, your team falls apart by week four, and you have nothing left to do until next year. GridIron Duels 1v1 mode cuts the season-long grind and keeps the part that is actually fun: the draft. You and one other player take turns picking nine real NFL players — one quarterback, two running backs, two wide receivers, a tight end, a flex, a defense, and a kicker. Whoever's lineup scores higher based on real NFL stats wins the duel.

How the 1v1 draft works

Matches are snake draft format. The game rolls a coin flip to decide who picks first, then alternates until all 18 roster spots are filled. You have a limited pick timer each turn, so drafts stay fast. Scoring is full-PPR by default with standard fantasy point values, and the final score updates live as the week's real NFL games are played. You can invite a specific friend by sharing your game link, or hit "play now" to get matched with anyone waiting in the lobby.

Why people play 1v1 instead of a full season

A 1v1 draft fits into a lunch break. You can play three or four in an evening. There is no season-long commitment, no league drama, no "my team is 0-5 and I want to quit." If you lose, you queue up and play another one five minutes later. If you win, you can rematch the same opponent or take on someone new. It is the closest thing fantasy football has to a chess-style quick match.

Yes. You can play as many 1v1 drafts as you want at no cost. There is an optional in-game currency (coins) you can earn by playing or buy for cosmetics, but it never gates the draft itself.

How long does a 1v1 fantasy draft take?

About five minutes from start to finish. Eighteen total picks with a short pick timer each turn means you are never waiting long.

Do I need to know fantasy football to play?

No. The game shows each player's real NFL stats, position, and team so you can draft without memorizing ADP. New players typically start in VS CPU mode to learn the flow before matching up against other humans.

Can I play 1v1 with a specific friend?

Yes. Create a private game and share the invite link, or send a direct challenge from your friends list once you have connected with them in-game.
